Texas-born singer-songwriter Siobhan Heard is an indie soul artist now based in Los Angeles. She has started singing in her father’s church at 12 years old and now, influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott, she releases her own music. Her most recent track “Delayed Gratification”, as she timidly confesses it, talks about sex and is also the first official single off her upcoming debut LP “Love In All Aspects”. OMG, please forgive her!
The artist is a kind of passionate about music and she has also demonstrated quite an openness about it. Indeed, she grew up singing gospel but also studied opera and jazz from adolescence through college and takes a particular interest in the works of some hip-hop producers like Timbaland and J-Dilla. We could even describe her as ambitious as she likes to remind that she likes challenges:
This curiosity and this ambition can be found in her music, that is a mix of chill, future, future R&B, or even alternative R&B. But don’t get wrong, nothing is set up so far: Siobhan Heard is still defining her music and we are sure that she will surprise us in the future!
“Delayed Gratification” is about sex. I’m a little embarrassed to be that frank, but that’s what it is! […] I feel a high akin to sex
Oh My Lord, please forgive her again! The artist likes beats or tracks that are rhythmically complex, and hard to anticipate. That is why she was totally inspired when she heard the production of Samantha Purple: the lyrics of “Delayed Gratification” naturally came to her. The beat, which is futuristic and sensual, spreads drops of desire and perfectly embraces the velvet voice of the singer. Moreover, the lyrics are subtly metaphoric. Here is the greedy and sweet lyric video for “Delayed Gratification” and no, the song is not about delightful macarons and splashes of milk!
What’s coming next for the young artist? The release of her debut LP “Love In All Aspects”!The LP seems to be perfectly named because, as you can read on her web site:
Siobhan Heard‘s “Love In All Aspects” is about romantic love. It’s about heartache. It’s about loving your family. It’s about the love of music. It’s about feeling yourself. It’s about loving yourself.
While waiting for an official release date for the LP, you can get the single on iTunes, listen to her promising album sampler, and you can also follow the artist on Facebook, Soundcloud, Instagram and Twitter.
