Danish drone-reptilian pop artist Kill J has reliably developed a singular musical universe these last two years. Her creativity and her work have brought her to the release of her debut EP “Quasi”, which is out today. The 6-track project features some of her previous singles such as the immediate “You’re Good But I’m Better”, the feminist “Propaganda” or the rocking “Trickle Trickle”, a new single called “Coda” and also two new tracks.
The EP is consistent and you will find everything you can adore, or maybe hate, about Kill J: electronic trembling voice, pitched aerobatics, infectious choruses and attitude. “Back Home”, a new track that opens the EP, and “Coda” are maybe a bit generic. We will prefer the closing track “Mama Taught Me Well” that is a real vocal getaway.
By the way, Chiara Hunter, who made a playlist for us this week, picked up “You’re Good But I’m Better” in her selection.
Finally, I will confess that I am still waiting for something closer to “Phoenix”, which remains for me an excellent and impressive track.
