GIMME5 is the opportunity to discover 5 worthy tracks in one post. Here is a selection of twisted electronic and synth pop tracks to make you jump and smile the whole weekend! In the roaster today, new tracks from Danny L Harle + Carly Rae Jepsen, Katie Dey, Powell + Frankie, Pillow Person and Promises Ltd.. A selection to give a listen to if you dig PC Music, Terror Jr., The Knife, and Jessy Lanza.
This is the collaboration we were waiting for! After a long teasing PC Music‘s producer Danny L Harle and indie-reconverted artist Carly Rae Jepsen finally share their “Super Natural.” The track doesn’t reach the amazeballness of “Ashes Of Love” but it is still a heady, catchy, and infectious twisted pop track! Congrats Danrly or Carny! By the way, as our fellas of Idolator write it, Carly Rae Jepsen is apparently working on the follow-up of “E•MO•TION” with Swedish hitmakers Patrick Berger (Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”) and Noonie Bao (“Run Away With Me”).
Following in the footsteps of The Knife and Jessy Lanza, Melbourne artist Katie Dey recently released her promising debut LP “Flood Network” via Joy Void. “Only To Trip and Fall Down Again” is an encrypted pop song, a worrying blending of synthetic sounds and textures that shape the sounds of loneliness and melancholia. You will never enjoy sadness that much!
Powell & Frankie – “Frankie” (Twitter)
XL Recordings‘s Powell is an atypical and funny dude. The producer is about to release his debut LP on October 14 and he describes it as “being something for both mind and body.” Thus, the title is well-chosen: “Sport.”Besides this announcement, he also shared a new track called “Frankie” that features Jonine Standish of HTRK. It is an electroclash and angry hard rock-inspired tune that will motivate you to excel if you do jogging or boxing!
Pillow Person, the new solo project of Sarah Jones from Hot Chip, is already giving a follow-up to the bouncy debut single “Go Ahead.” Her new track, “In My Game,” is a humble and catchy pop track which is actually the B-Side of the first one. Discussing this new track, that will also be released on August 19 via Moshi Moshi, Jones say:
Finally, last but not least, we are very proud of this band as we discovered them on HumanHuman one month ago, just when they released their first track “Days Of Lavender.” At this period, we were not aware that their second single “American Eyes” would be that good! The Majestic Casual-signed duet, comprised of Charlie Brand and Jeremy Malvin, is like the crossroads of underground dance music and modern day alternative. A perfect sum-up for this hypnotic new track that you have to listen to by night on a neverending highway!
